Digestive Charcoal Powder is designed to help remove toxins from your dog's intestines.
Some classic times that could be of benefit of feeding some charcoal powder to your dog is when they:
- wake up with an upset stomach and you don't know why
- ate feces of any kind
- consumed any type of dog dangerous product and your vet says to just wait it out
- ate any type of toxin
Activated charcoal binds to toxins in the intestines which in turn helps the toxins not be absorbed into your dog's blood stream. The activated charcoal binds to the ingested toxin and helps to release it from your dog's body.
Directions: mix into a tiny bit of liquidy food like yogurt, broth, fish oil or apple sauce and let your dog lick it out.
Small dog: 1/4tsp
Medium dog: 1/2 tsp
Large dog: 1 tsp
Beneficial for canines and felines.
Caution: Activated charcoal doesn't pick and choose which nutrients or compounds to bind to. It binds to anything that is in the intestines. Because of this, do not feed around the same time as needed medication as the charcoal will bind to the medication and pull it out before it can be absorbed by the intestines. Don't feed around meal time if possible since it will bind to the nutrients in your dog's meal and pull those out as well. In emergencies, it is always better to still feed the activated charcoal because not getting the nutrients from a meal is not as significant as removing toxins that your dog has ingested. In the same sense, do not feed with a lot of liquidy food since that food will be null and void that is mixed with the activated charcoal powder.
